BLOOM! @ Kunstpunt Groningen

BLOOM! is a burst of color. In the work of artist Gabrielle Kroese (Rotterdam, 1963) plants and flowers often play a leading role. Her most recent work is a celebration of life and the prospect of the end of the pandemic.

Abstract color planes and figurative images are combined. Do they reinforce and influence each other? Or do they irritate? Fascinated by our selective way of looking, Kroese distorts the image. Your gaze is slowed down. ‘Slow watching’ she calls this. So there is plenty to discover at home and therefore almost all works are for sale.

Gabrielle Kroese is the fifth Northern artist in the Atelier Collection-Solo series to present work from her oeuvre at Kunstpunt Groningen.

ARTIST TALK

In my work you often see colorful flowers and plants. But how does that actually work, plants as inspiration for art? In this artist talk I will be talking to garden designer and visual artist Caroline Thomas. Together we discuss our interests, commonalities and differences in each other’s work. To what extent are we working on the same thing? Is it only the material that differs or are they really completely different professions?
