PORTRAIT OF A BUTTERFLY

JAR Foundation and CBK Emmen are proud to announce the start of a unique relay exhibition at the Rensenhut. This beautiful pavilion of Foundation JAR, designed by Abelen Architects as a tribute to Jaap and Aleid Rensen, will serve as a temporary presentation space this summer. The Rensenhut offers an intimate setting for small presentations and will be the stage for six members of the Drenthe nomadic artist community Kuunst.nu from July through September.

For the presentation in the Rensenhut, I focused on an Aglais io Europe, a butterfly from the former butterfly garden. From the results of this small color study, four colors were extracted and brought together in two large color capsules in a wooden frame. The installation thus also symbolizes a tribute to Jaap and Aleid Rensen, the former directors of the Emmen Zoo.
